Texas Rockers' Hacienda

Hacienda consists of brothers Abraham Villanueva (piano/vocals), Jaime Villanueva (drums/vocals), Rene Villanueva (bass/vocals), and cousin Dante Schwebel (guitar/vocals). I first heard of Hacienda when they were apart of The Fast Five, Dan Auerbach's backing band for his solo album "keep it hid." In April I saw Hacienda open for The Greenhornes at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, they blew me away, ever since than I have been obsessed.

Their first Album, "loud is the night," is a mix of rock n' roll and retro-pop, with harmonies that sound like The Beatles. The second album "Big and Red Barbacoa" (produced by Dan Auerbach) has a more 60's garage-band rock sound while showing off more of their "tex-mex" roots.

PLAY IT LOUUUDDDDD!!!

Alison Mosshart

Rocker chick Alison Mosshart is not only lead singer of rock band The Kills, but also of Jack White's blues rock band Dead Weather. Her style icons include Edie Sedgwick, Kim Gordon, Patti Smith, and Mick Jagger. She describes her style as "Gold boots, tight jeans, long scarves, awkward stance, cigarette, part Detroit, part New York, and part Dalston." She sounds pretty badass to me!

Check out this video interview of Mosshart with band mate Jamie Hince (Kate Moss's husband) for Nylon Magazine. In bed with The Kills

It's all about the RED TAB Continued: Vintage Levi's pieces

I am starting to think that my obsession for vintage levi's denim is a result of my secret wish to be apart of "the outsiders" gang. Do you see the close resemblance in style?

Fall is finally here!

"The leaves had changed to a warm gold, revealing their last grand spectacle before they die." One of my favourite quotes from a short story my brother Cody wrote, titled "October." That one line sums up the feeling of Ontario's short but beautiful fall perfectly.

Everyone, it is time to bust out your jackets, boots and scarves, because the season of layering is finally here. I have posted some pictures of me on a short stroll that I decided to go on this afternoon. Nothing like a tailored blazer over a plain white tee. Check out my vintage shoes that i recently got resoled, they're good as new!

it's all about the RED TAB

24 year old german immigrant, Levi Strauss, headed for San Francisco in 1853 to open a branch of his brother's New York dry goods business. Shortly after his arrival, Levi realized there was a high demand for pants, so he took the rough canvas he had brought from New York and turned it into waist overalls. Later on Levi substituted the canvas for a twilled cotton cloth, otherwise known as DENIM.

Some of the first Levi's ad campaigns.

Levi Strauss & Company began using the pocket stitch design in 1873. The red tab attached to the left rear pocket wasn't introduced until 1936 as a means for identifying Levi's Jeans from a distance.

Two of my favorite artists, Sam Roberts and Dan Auerbach, rock levi's denim jackets. I personally believe it is an essential item in everyone's closet. A denim jacket is awesome for layering over a hoodie, a dress, or even just a plain white t-shirt. The beauty of denim is the more you wear it, the better it looks. And if your cool enough, it's okay to rock the "double denim".

Almost Famous

Almost famous is one of my all time favorite films. I love each and every characters' style. Each member of Stillwater has such amazing hair and their own unique look. After watching this movie for the one hundredth time the other night, it inspired me to pull out my vintage tees and flared jeans. I  also felt good about my recent purchase of my newest pair of ray bans, "the metal rounds", Kate Hudson's character Penny Lane wears almost the identical pair on the cover, check them out!
