Cody Smith paintings and drawings are inspired by the beauty that we overlook daily. Working primarily on genre scenes of Glasgow, his work presents an exciting and thought-provoking perspective on the urban landscape. The lack of human presence in Smith's paintings heightens the viewer's potential for emotional resonance with the objects depicted. These objects are left open for the audience to connect to since they are rooted in daily use and are often unconsciously encountered. Smith's artworks breathe new life into the mundane moments of human existence, adding colour and movement to the back courtyards and bus stations of city routine.
